India inspects plants of spice makers MDH, Everest over alleged contamination

India is inspecting MDH and Everest's facilities for quality standards following halted sales in Hong Kong and Singapore for allegedly containing high levels of a cancer-causing pesticide. The Spices Export Regulator is working with the companies to identify the root cause and propose corrective measures. The Spices Board is starting mandatory testing for ethylene oxide in spice consignments to Singapore and Hong Kong.
